Kunming Trade Fair Boosts Economic Cooperation

A five-day trade fair in southwestern Kunming has attracted over 12,000 businessmen from China and abroad. The event, officially known as the Third Pan-Pearl River Delta Regional Economic and Trade Cooperation Fair, aims at creating a platform for better business exchanges in the Region. It includes nine Chinese provinces along the Pearl River along with Hong Kong and Macau special administrative regions. CRI's Han Wei was there and filed this report.
In an exhibition hall for top Chinese brands, Yunnan Baiyao Group Marketing Manager Wei Bo was busy promoting his products. He told me the fair has offered a good opportunity for his company to make contacts with counterparts in the region and to explore a broader overseas market, especially in southeast Asia.

Wei Bo said many guests from ASEAN countries have visited his booth and showed great interest in traditional Chinese medicine.

Indeed, many ASEAN countries have set up their own exhibition booths at the fair. Wallapa Pattanaporn, a representative from Thailand's Ministry of Commerce, brought with her various Thai fruits to display on the fair. The exhibition booth attracted numerous visitors who had a taste of the exotic fruits.

Pattanaporn believed the trade fair will further business cooperation between China and Thailand.

The Pan-Pearl River Delta regional cooperation framework was launched in 2004, aiming at deeper economic integration within the region and also closer economic exchanges between the region and neighboring nations.

This year's fair is held together with the annual China Kunming Import and Export Commodities Fair.
