Held from August 8th-15th of 1995, 980 companies which from 22 provinces, cities, prefectures and 16 countries and regions attended the fair. Among them were 66% from five provinces and seven sides. And 18% of them were from other provinces. Overseas companies took 16%. 1265 booths were set up and 3444 square meters of exposed space were used. 4690 merchants presented who were from 51 countries. The general turnover was 1516 million US$, 3.69% higher than the previous session. Among it was 438 million US$ export (including 64.33 million US$ border trade). 284 million US$ import (including 41.09 million US$ border trade and 43 million US$ overseas trade). The projects that introduced foreign investment were 123. The contracted investments amounted to 683 million US$ including 387 million US$ foreign investments. Foreign contracted construction contracts were 29 of them dealing with 111 million US$. Border trade turnover amounted to 875 million RMB. Burma took 79% of the proportion. Vietnam took18% and Laos took 3%. The scopes of 50 introduced foreign investment and import commodities were machinery, chemicals, raw material and auxiliary material, textiles, farm produces and so on. This session made an attempt to internationalize the fair. Through setting up international medical appliances section and 5 national or regional sections including for Burma, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Hong Kong, enlarged the scopes of export-dominant Kunming Fair. The commodities on display were various. Machinery and electric products, chemicals, non-ferrous metals, and textiles enjoyed a bulk trade volume. And the border trade with the neighboring countries and with the Southeast Asian countries took a large proportion. Many large firms, large transnational corporations and chambers of commerce appointed representatives to attend the fair and seeking for trade opportunities. It showed the greater influence of the fair in developed countries. The foreign investments were input to more reasonable fields.
