The 1st China Kunming Export Commodities Fair was held on 8th-18th August, 1993, in which 1,226 companies and governmental departments had attended, 1,042 of them were from 5 provinces and 7 regions. The exhibition covered 30,000 m2, which had 1,466 booths (1,271 booths were taken by the enterprises from 5 provinces and 7 regions.), the mechanical exhibition hall covered 1,230 m2, the outdoor exhibition place covered 3,670 m2. The 19 trade delegations were organized according to different provinces, regions or lines of business, over 10 national and local enterprises attended the fair directly. The enterprises of participation in the fair came from 30 provinces, regions, cities and special economic zones. The total volume of business amounted to 1,757 million US$. Among them, 830 million US$ (including 145 million US$ border trade) was from the import and export trade. The business volume of export was 560 million US$ (including 109 million US$ border trade) and import was 232 million US$. 8.63 million US$ was dealt in medical machinery with foreign firms. 306 items of the contracts of introducing foreign investment were signed. The total amount of investment was 921 million US$, among which 444 million US$ was protocol investment. The 5 contracts for service and construction were signed, which the sum was 6.39 million US$. Furthermore, the border supplying contracts between enterprises amounted to 250 million RMB. Border export amounted to 629 million RMB. Among them: Burma 542 million RMB taken 86%. Vietnam 55.46million RMB, taken 9%. Laos 31.71RMB, taken 5%. 46 technical introducing contracts were signed mainly dealing with tobacco-processing, telecommunications, and steel-smelting equipments and so on. 210 import contracts were signed.
